Now it came to pass, as he finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them. Numbers 16.31

There are people that play with the decisions of the Most High God. Now, what He says will always happen, so not giving attention to His Word is the greatest folly that someone can commit. The Lord will never stop honoring those who honor Him, and will always accomplish what he has spoken. Thus, always be willing to learn about what He says, and at the same time, be prepared to enter before Him and ask for His judgment.

Korah, Dathan, and Abiram were led by the demon and confronted a man of God. In fact, they despised the divine presence, and with an insane act, tried to depose the Lord’s chosen ones. In my walk of faith, I have seen this happen many times, and in all of them, the rebellious had no success. But unfortunately, the school of rebellion is still sought by many who do not fear the Most High.

Whoever lets himself be dominated by the spirit of mistake stands firm in his evil position, and because of his folly, does not wake up to the fact that he will pay a high price. After praying to the Lord and receiving direction on what he should do, Moses also went after the rebel leaders, giving them one last chance. However, they did not accept to turn back, so the man of God asked the people to stand away from them.

Since they did not listen to Moses and the elders of the people, the servant of God asked everyone to depart from near the tents of those perverse men. He warned the people not to touch in anything that were theirs, so that they would not be considered guilty. The people obeyed, but the rebellious ones did not want to turn back on their decisions. So they stood in front of their tents, with their wives, sons, and children.

Moses told the people that their death would be different – that if the earth did not open and swallow them alive, he was not a man sent by God. On the moment he stopped talking, there was a great earthquake that opened the earth and swallowed the rebels, with their children and families. Nothing would have happened if they had feared the Lord. Those who are led by the spirit of rebellion will not have a good future.

I tremble when I see someone rise against the sovereign decisions of the Lord. Why does this happen? Why are there people that prefer walking in sin rather than accepting the divine plan? God’s patience has a limit, and one day, the Lord will say: “Enough of confronting against my will”. Then, whom will these people have to support them? Do not stand beside those who rebel against the will of the sovereign God.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
