09/08/2017 - WHAT TO SAY ABOUT REBEKAH

So Rebekah spoke to Jacob her son, saying, “Indeed I heard your father speak to Esau your brother, saying. Genesis 27:6

On seeking to know from the Lord why there was contention in her womb, Rebekah was told by God that she was bearing twins and that two nations would be born from them.  She learned further that the greater would serve the lesser.  This must have caused a full avalanche of emotions in her.  But why did the Lord not prevent this twin birth since to our human eyes, the only necessary would be the one from whom the Savior would descend. One day we will know everything!

When something is unsettling to us we must seek divine direction, counsel or wisdom.  Since the Lord knows everything and is true, He is the only one who can show us what is behind any situation. There is nothing better than to hear from Him the explanation to the why behind our problems.  With these answers we will know how to carry ourselves in any circumstance.  When we have light we can walk without stumbling over obstacles and holes, but if we walk in darkness we can’t obey the Father’s will.

Rebekah understood and took that revelation to be a decree from the Omnipotent: the greater would serve the lesser. This is why she needed to remain alert to the subsequent events; so that God’s words would not fail and humanity could be redeemed.  We don’t imagine how greatly one can err when they disobey the commandments or do not observe the instructions of the Most High!  If I had refused my call and gone to Moscow to study medicine, how many millions of souls would have been lost! This is really serious!

The Almighty’s purpose and plan should be confirmed; otherwise how could people trust Him?  Should it fail, that word would not deserve attention. Rebekah placed God’s love first above all and even if she were to be condemned by men, she did not pay any mind to this.  As Peter said to the scribe and leaders, it is more worth to obey God than men (Acts 5:29). Choose to love the Lord and you will be loved by the Father and by the son. The reward will be tremendous! Amen?

Isaac was advanced in age and had to transfer his blessing on to his successor, but if there was contention in Rebekah´s womb and Esau overtook Jacob and was born first, would the older be blessed?  To the human eyes, the blessing would be his but Jacob, who had been defeated in his mother’s womb, knew how to handle the situation and bought the birthright from his profane brother.  The father was leaning to favor Esau, especially because he was a hunter and always gifted his father with a prize catch. Jacob had to be smart and subtle and quick to prevail!

Rebekah felt the time had come to confirm the Truth. So she took Jacob into her confidence to take measures before Esau received the patriarchal blessing.  We must not judge if what she did was right or wrong but the following events confirmed that Jacob was the Lord’s chosen one. If you know God’s will and do nothing for it to prevail, you can be held eternally responsible for someone’s loss.

Esau should have recognized that he sold and lost his birthright to Jacob. When he gave his word he should have kept it even at a personal sacrifice or loss.  In a certain way, humanity’s redemption was hanging by a string. However, with Rebekah’s decision, the Lord fulfilled His promise.

In Christ, with Love,

Righteous God! How often we pass through great difficulties where someone wants to take our place in Christ!  No matter who tries to stop us from doing Your will; if we pray and follow Your instructions, You will teach us to act!

We did not chose to be Your servants nor select our purpose and mission, but You did. It is possible we have erred or fallen short not obeying You, but since you are the Author of Salvation, nothing and nobody can prevent us from fulfilling our calling.

That we may live like Rebekah taking everything to heart and being ready to do what You order us to do.  Surely Your work has to be done with love and not with titles.  Esau’s title no longer served him since he sold it. Thank you that Rebecca knew how to listen and acted correctly! Amen!
