The truthful lip shall be established forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment. (Proverbs 12:19)

There is nothing better than speaking the truth at all times, because whoever does so has a joyful life and is never embarrassed, but those who lie are constantly making excuses to cover up their falsehoods. When they are inquired about something they once said they get confused and startled, without knowing whether they are being tested. The liar is an eternal sufferer. On the other hand, the truthful lip is calm, speaks with conviction and is never embarrassed, because the Almighty is on their side.

It\’s wonderful to hear a good story but if after some time you find the person who told it and remind him/her of it and he/she gets embarrassed and says he/she does not remember anything – or even denies that he/she had said such a thing – you will be frustrated, won’t you? Well, the liar is a servant of the devil and therefore unreliable. They have problems in all areas of their life, after all nothing can go well for those who make use of deception. Perhaps, the liar learned to pray beautifully and the unwary might think he does it better than he who speaks the truth, but he never receives an answer from the Lord at all.

The individual who harbors the enemy in his heart is always speaking evil of everyone. It is virtually impossible that he or she has any true friends. Because they are always dissimulating, they keep even the well-intentioned away. Any attribute that he or she might have is of no avail due to their false and misleading conduct.

The individual who lies is someone dangerous, because just as the deep calls unto deep, his bad demeanor attracts so many bad people that he might end up committing a crime (Psalm 42:7). His soul is dominated by wickedness and he sees no limits for wrongdoings and spares no effort to keep them hidden. Consequently, he may conclude that killing someone is the only way to be kept safe and because he is a liar he will barefacedly deny the authorship of such atrocity.

Most assuredly, we cannot trust someone who does not speak the truth. By giving us this revelation, the Lord teaches us the right way: the truthful lip shall be established forever but the liar will be caught and ashamed. The liar will never walk beside Jesus because truth and lie are incompatible.

In Christ with love,
