And the LORD listened to the voice of Israel and delivered up the Canaanites, and they utterly destroyed them and their cities. So the name of that place was called Hormah. Numbers 21:3

God’s promise guarantees that if we ask anything according to His will, He will hear us; so see first where in the Bible such a claim is warranted. Then, in faith, claim it. The enemy’s threat will be with a simple fudge spoken by him. But beware, He is never not seeing us, so be filled with the strength of the Lord to win the battles.

When the king of Arad charged against Israel, the Most High was attentive to what His people would ask of Him. With the wisdom received from the Lord, Moses did the right thing, leading the Israelites to understand and make a vow to the never-failing God. But such words would have to be fulfilled; after all, they would be charged to their full extent. It is better not to promise than to promise and not to fulfill!

The situation was sad. Without being commanded by the Lord, the sons of Jacob would not touch those Canaanites. The Israelites would pass that way in order to enter Canaan and take over the land that would be given to them. Seeing this, the king of Arade attacked the holy people by surprise and therefore suffered complete defeat. No citizen of his kingdom was alive to tell the story.

Israel understood the vow and declared that if the Omnipotent delivered the Canaanites into their hands, they would utterly destroy their cities. And it happened! In their territory, nothing stood up. God’s people did what they said. With sin and its consequences, we must do so, or we will not please our heavenly Father. Promise made must be promise fulfilled.

As you feel that God must make a covenant with Him, stick to it soon, because the Lord will require it of you. The people understood the importance of doing what they said and took the right action. Never leave the work of the Most High for later, nor say that it must stop because of the crisis. Anything disturbing or oppressive comes from the devil, but you must stand firm in the faith. The evil one will insist on tempting you so that you give up the fight.

 

Today, the vows are not meant to destroy people, but the forces of evil that overwhelm those who cannot who are unable to fight. We must enter the kingdom of the enemy and give him the deserved defeat by freeing the captives. The work is great and we cannot stop to rest or celebrate victories before the end. God will say when there is nothing left to do, and we will move on to other fronts.

We can never prevaricate by agreeing that some stay in the old religion, for that would hurt God’s heart. Neither do we have to attack any dogma or creed of those who are without the wisdom of the High, but to lead them to understand what is the pleasing, good, and perfect will of God. Our mission is to save lives that will perish if we take too long to act!
