Give us help from trouble, for the help of man is useless.
Psalm 60:11
The doers of God’s Word – those who act by faith – have the best help of the world at their disposal: God Himself. There is nothing that compares to the Almighty, the Invincible God, who dwells both in the High and Holy places and in the lives of those who carry out His will.
God is available to those who are willing to hear the eternal truth and to act boldly. He is faithful and just to fulfill the things He promised (I John 1:9), but to achieve this you must turn to Him and make your request, because he who does not ask does not receive; he who does not search does not find, and to who does not knock, the door will not open (Matthew 7:7-8; Luke 11:9-10).
The Lord answers those who ask Him, but we must be specific – just as the blind Bartimaeus did: he cried out for God to have mercy on him. The Master sent for him and when asked what was his intention he said objectively that he wanted to receive his sight and his petition was granted. Through this story, we learn that having faith is not enough: we must be specific in asking!
Why continue being afflicted if we have the promise of deliverance from the Lord? The Psalmist prayed for help when he was in trouble. If he had only been \”praising\” God help or longing for help he probably would not have been answered. When we are in trouble, we must open our mouths and present our plea for heavenly grace. We must say to the Lord that man\’s help is useless, but God’s help is steadfast and infallible.
The help of man may seem effective, but has no power to defeat the lesser of the demons. Many religious philosophers say beautiful words and yet they are not enough for those who are being attacked by the forces of darkness. But the aid that comes from the Word of God has in itself all the authority of God and therefore can lead man to complete deliverance.
With the fall of Adam we became powerless in our endeavors; as a result, everything we do is of no avail. Only when we are in contact with the Scriptures and base our actions on what it teaches, then we are able to help someone and also get rid of the evil arrows. It may sound simple, but any abnormality should be fought with faith and determination because it can be the beginning of a major operation of the devil.
He who does not act based on what the Bible teaches wastes time and energy – and the result is general frustration. Christians who are not victorious bear a terrible witness to the Gospel; after all, family members, friends and other people will not believe them when they speak of Jesus. We may achieve some success talking about the love of God, but we will have far more success enjoying the abundant life He has to offer us (John 10:10).
