Thus Edom has been in revolt against Judah’s authority to this day. At that time Libnah revolted against his rule, because he had forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.

II Chronicles 21: 10

Jehoram’s mistake was to turn his back to The Lord and sadly I’ve seen many people nowadays committing the same error. Many people let themselves be easily carried away by earthly things. They’d rather live in elegant districts, own great houses, wear good clothes, have good cars, which is not wrong; yet, they won’t seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Precisely for that reason the devil has them caught up in his clutches and that’s why they’re being oppressed.

In Jehoram’s days the Edomites were rebellious against Judah’s power and so they lifted up a king for themselves. Jehoram should have opened up his eyes and sensed that something was not right. The thing is that sin blinds people and those who are in sin happen even to find excuses to justify their wrongdoing. Yet, at the first signal that something is not doing fine those who are wise engage in praying for The Lord to show them what needs to be done.

Just confirming what The Bible says: Deep calls unto deep (Psalm 42: 7), so the people of Libnah revolted against Jeroham’s ruling, who did not seek the Lord once again and did what worldly people do. Now, problems that might come up prove that we’re not actually walking according to the Light because those who walk during the day will never stumble (John 11: 9). The enemy will attack us as he realises that, on account of our sinning, The Lord will not keep us.

Jeroham was mistaken as he abandoned The Most High. A clear evidence of someone who has left The Light is that they won’t read The Word any longer, they won’t consecrate their lives nor will they look for the divine direction. That happens so easily because the devil might even give someone a hand so they’ll improve their life as long as that will turn them away from God. So, for us not to fall into temptation we need to keep an eye out and live a life of prayer. A person might be tempted to commit adultery, to be dishonest and, among other sorts of sins, not to turn to The Father.

If things are not doing fine in your life it probably means that your faith is decreasing. Those who stop crying out to The Lord are actually stuck in the way of faith, and they’re not receiving the revelations granted by Him to them – such precious revelations which enlighten their way for them to follow Him. God knows all those plans He has for all of us very well; yet, we don’t always allow Him to operate His will in our lives.

Instead of seeking The Most High Jeroham built up altars of idolatry in the high places and, thus, he seduced Jerusalem into turning away from The Living God. Now, we have also built those altars as we focus our attention on those earthly things such as a beautiful house, stylish cars, luxury yachts, our dream holiday to some other country, and so on and so forth. The truth is that he who seeks will find; he who knocks will find the door open (Luke 11: 9). God is with those who follow His directions.

Jeroham only managed to rule for eight years because God didn’t want to destroy the house of David on account of The Covenant He’d made with him. The Lord had promised He’d give David and his children a lamp. Therefore, don’t take advantage of the divine patience.

In Christ, with love,
