He who winks with the eye causes trouble, but a prating fool will fall. Proverbs 10.10

Things in life are much more serious than we think. Now, sinning is easy when you don’t have the fear of God – respect for Him – in your heart. Winking with the eyes brings suffering and misfortune to those who don’t act according to what the Word instructs in this verse that we’re studying. So never give in to temptation, because behind it is the creator of sin, the devil (1 Peter 5:8). God uses this quote to instruct us!

Jesus taught that certain habits can lead us to Hell. According to the Scriptures, adulterers are part of the group of nine who will not inherit Heaven: Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6. 9-10).

In the basic text of this message, God isn’t really talking about the mistake of winking with the eyes, but rather about the spirit behind this action, or the one of looking at a woman in an impure way. In this regard, the Bible warns: But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart (Matthew 5.28). The devil is the author of the temptation that leads a married person to lust after another.

This attitude has serious consequences both for the person practicing it and for their family. Some people go bankrupt because of it, as the Word of God states: For by means of a harlot a man is reduced to a crust of bread; and an adulteress will prey upon his precious life. (Proverbs 6:26). Why exchange Heaven of light for Hell of dense darkness and a lake of fire and brimstone? You were redeemed to be saved!

People who don’t care about eternal damnation are foolish. If they die separated from God, they will never find peace again. Be prudent and abandon adultery. Exchanging eternal happiness for a few minutes of dirty pleasure should be far from your heart. The wise would never make such an exchange, but the foolish see no reason to let it go!

The imprudent person gets involved in all sorts of messes and spends their days setting goals, without being able to achieve them. Why live like that if you’re going to pay a high price? Be wise and seek the Lord’s forgiveness for your sins. See how good God has been to you, convincing you of your iniquities and helping to deliver you from death and endless suffering (Proverbs 1:23).You were created to be a blessing.

The time to convert and prepare for eternal life is now. Living with Christ here is better than without Him. Every day, you experience His goodness, the power of His Name and what He can and wants to do on your behalf. Make the right decision by going to Jesus to receive the forgiveness and salvation He provided in His death on the Calvary cross. You were designed to live forever. Pray and don’t sin!
