“They seem like men who lift up axes among the thick trees.” (Psalm 74: 5)

This is a Psalm of Asaph which narrates the intense suffering the people of God went through in the biblical times. Yet, many of us today have also been facing anguish and pain. So, what are we to do? Raise an outcry like that one above; the one of the servant of the Lord? Or should we believe in what we’ve been told to do and take the offensive in order to carry out the divine work? Undoubtedly, our crying has lasted all night long; yet, the Holy Scriptures states that our day has come along with joy (Psalm 30: 5). Therefore, it’s a different situation now; after all, our Lord has already performed His vengeance by granting us the power to do what He did, in His name, during His earthly ministry. The Word even states that we can do greater works than His (John 14: 12)!

We can’t deny the enemy’s making progress with an axe in his hand – and he won’t respect the thickness of the trees; he’s main goal is to put them down and split them to make firewood and thoroughly consume it. Nevertheless, no tool he’s made or that he owns has power in itself over our lives and the task we’re commissioned to perform. But sometimes we fail to believe in the Word of the Lord; so, that’s when Satan’s axe begins operating.

That enemy’s tool has put many people down and they’re snatched out of their ministries in the end. They’re even gifted and well trained people, ready to become a blessing; yet, they let themselves be carried away by the tricks of sin and fall. So, what seemed profitable before has turned into a burden; it’s only sadness left now, desolation and a heavy load to be carried. This is a question we must always ask ourselves: “What have we been doing?” We cannot be in agreement with our opponent by saying “Gosh! This is a hard time we’re going through!” because our mission is to heal the wounded people; to lift up those who’ve fallen and strengthen those who’ve received a calling – and the power we’ve been granted is capable enough to perform those miracles!

Our society needs to see the children of God in action. For instance, we mustn’t believe that death penalty, is the way out; its defenders say there’s no other remedy to restore people’s morality. They say “corruption is a disease of our contemporary democracy and immorality mustn’t be condemned; because that’s what people like”. We mustn’t have that way of thinking; we’ve been called to make the difference! Households must be respected; our children need holy mothers and fathers on the altar of God; paedophilia, a devilish work, must be drastically attacked, as well as drugs and dishonesty.

We’ve got the duty to preach the Good News and we’ll take responsibility for it; that’s the solution of God. So, let’s react, brethren! This reform must begin in our way of believing. Nothing was written at random in the Bible; everything there is a challenge for the true servants of God to act accordingly. We mustn’t stand still; on the contrary, we’ve got to set the example and exercise our rights worth in Christ!

In Christ, with love,
