“In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying, “The LORD has been very angry with your fathers.” (Zechariah 1:1-2)
At the beginning of Prophet Zechariah’s ministry the Lord suggested reconciliation between His rebellious people and Him. And He does the same to us; after all, God works hard to open up our eyes so that we’ll be kept away from suffering. The Israelites’ seventy-year captivity is a small example of real imprisonment prepared for those whose backs are turned to The Truth. My brethren, have you gone too far? Do you belong to one of the twelve tribes depicted in the Scriptures which won’t inherit the Kingdom of God (I Corinthians 6:10) or which will experience the second death (Revelation 21:8)? If the answer to that question is “yes”, I recommend you to promptly accept the reconciliation the Most High made with us through Jesus because the pain you’ll suffer will be strong if you keep putting it off.
Zechariah heard the Lord saying that He’d be a fire wall (Zechariah 2:5), and that demonstrates His love for Jerusalem and the anger He felt for those who chastised His people because they were too tough on them. The Most High remains being a fire wall around us nowadays as it gives great comfort to all children of God because now we can walk freely and at ease since we’re aware that the enemy won’t get in our way as long as we’re faithful to the Almighty God.
Among all the important messages that prophet received from the Lord, one of them has a special meaning for us: “God will dwell among us” (Zechariah 2:10). So, we can rest safely now because our opponent won’t be able to touch us unless we allow him to dwell in us; he knows the Almighty is like a fire wall around us.
Zechariah once talked about Satan’s opposition to Joshua, the high priest, and he also mentioned how the devil was reprimanded: “The LORD rebukes you, Satan! The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem
rebukes you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?” (Zechariah 3:1). It’s interesting to note that the high priest’s robe was dirty, but when his iniquity was removed God covered him with a fine garment. The same goes for all of us: the Lord gives us shelter and He reprimands our enemy and He also gives us new robes though the ones we’re wearing now are filthy. Mind you, Joshua, the high priest then, was before the angel of the Lord, so we need to stick to the Word of God to get the same treatment.
Then the Lord said to that prophet that His work isn’t done by might or by violence, but through His Holy Spirit (Zechariah 4:6). My brethren, that lesson is of the utmost importance for your family to be safe and sound or for you to get any other blessing. You can determine whatever you wish when the Spirit of God opens up your understanding; the prophecy will be thoroughly fulfilled when He speaks right into your heart.
In Christ, with love,
R. R. Soares
