10/03/2011 - The First Legislator
Do you know who the first person in the history of mankind to write laws for society to obey was? It was Moses. Instructed by God, he inscribed rules of law into tables of stone thus creating the 10 commandments, or Decalogue (Exodus 20:2-17).
Thousands of years after being written, the 10 commandments still serve as the basis for constitutions and legislations worldwide.
However, not all laws can deter crime. The fear and respect for the rules, whether spiritual or social, are only possible when people get to know the love that Christ taught us. “Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore, love is the fulfillment of the law.” (Romans 13:10)
