Pay attention to this revelation from God: “Surely the Sovereign LORD does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.” Amos 3.7
Very often we come across as frustrated. Even among those who serve the Lord, we have seen many who don’t feel fulfilled.
In reality , many know about God’s promises; that which He promised in His Word about family, marriage, health, finances, ministry, and more.
But the question many ask is: “Why have so many of those promises not been fulfilled in my life?”
We have a guarantee that the Lord will not do anything without communicating with His servants first!
Look at the case of this Biblical personality. Luke 2.25-28
“Now there was a man in
Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout…
It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.”
Notice
how just like Simeon, there are people alive today who are of God; who
are righteous and devout. Simeon was made a promise, that he would not
die without seeing Jesus Christ. In his case, God also made promises;
promises about the salvation of his family, about his professional and
financial success, promises of a successful marriage, and a productive
ministry.
Look what Simeon did to see this promise fulfilled in his life.
“Moved
by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought
in the child Jesus… Simeon took him in his arms and praised God,”
Let’s
imagine… It’s a beautiful afternoon, Simeon, already an old man,
retired, is at home, maybe doing some housework, thinking about live,
meditating on God’s promises, maybe singing a hymn… he knew that the
promise was that he wouldn’t die before he saw Christ. Suddenly he
starts to feel like going to the temple; he hadn’t planned on going to
the temple that afternoon, but in his heart he felt the desire to go…the Bible says “Moved
by the Spirit, he went into the temple…”! It was his day!
It
wasn’t merely a coincidence…it was God who spoke to him on that day
so that he would go to the temple. If he has been disconnected, even
though he had been made a promise, it wouldn’t be fulfilled.
Do you get why many promises don’t get fulfilled?
Because many times when the Lord speaks, we don’t lend our ear, we aren’t paying attention.
Maybe
that meeting–the one you felt like going to, but you were too tired
and you ended up staying home–that was the meeting of your life! Who
knows, you felt the urge to call a client and talk to him, but then you
thought to yourself that you had already called once, and that you
wouldn’t call again, that was the moment to make a good deal. And that
offering that you felt like making to the house of God, but you made
some calculations and changed your mind? Ah, if Simeon had been too
tired to go to the temple on that day! He would not have seen Jesus,
and then he would have been frustrated that a promise had gone
unfulfilled in his life.
Sometimes the Holy Spirit has touched you to speak about Christ with somebody, but because you were busy with other things, you ended up not comprehending this spiritual guidance.
My
dear brother, pay attention to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Your
blessing may be very close, remember that the Lord wouldn’t do anything
without speaking with Hisservants first.
