Chapter 13 of the book of Judges tells the story of Samson. The covenant God had made with his mother to deliver God’s people from the oppression of the Philistines gave him a supernatural force.
Samson was a judge in Israel for 20 years. In this period, the people were safe because he defended them. However, he began to make wrong alliances (Judges 14:2-3; 17-19) and soon pain, disappointment and even heartbreak befell him and he lost his strength.
Surely this was not what the Lord expected from Samson. In His mercy, He accepted Samson’s humiliation and repentance, giving him strength again for the final battle (Judges 16:28-30).
Wrong alliances are wrong choices we make in our lives. Do not make wrong alliances, but holdfast to your covenant with God.
