05/18/2012 - A word changes everything
Pr. Glauber Morare
Much is said about the importance of words. But to what extent do they influence the issues of life? Used by God, Solomon wrote that “death and life are in the power of words” (Proverbs 18:21).
Regarding the bad issues – death – let’s go over the case of Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-10). In their hearts they plotted a scheme but ended up confessing their lies to the apostles. Sapphire said only “yes”, but her words were full of deadly poison, deception and lies. The outcome: she fell down and died instantly.
Concerning the good issues, those pertaining to life, we can mention Caleb (Joshua 14:6-13). By right, he was the heir of the promise to dwell in the land. However, it was occupied by giants, and Caleb was no longer young. In his heart, however, he knew God would not fail him. So he opened his mouth and made a beautiful confession, thus attaining victory. As he said, so it happened.
Confess the Word of God at all times, regardless of circumstances. But be careful! Even beautiful words, when devoid of the Divine essence, lead to death.
