01/28/2013 - Evil must be nipped in the bud
Pr. Glauber Morare
The biblical account of the healing of a deaf-mute (Mark 7:31-35) teaches us an important lesson: to seek the essence of things.
Notice that although his speech impediment was what drew attention at first, it was that man’s ear that Jesus initially healed. The Master knew that what kept the man from talking perfectly was his deafness.
When the essence is found, you can remove the root of the problem. That’s how the consequences cease to exist. Only then the other problems will stop.
Do not spend your strength in vain fighting what’s superficial. Seek the essence of all things in Christ. He taught in Matthew 6:33 that to those who seek the Kingdom first – the essence – the other things will be added.
