12/02/2013 - I want to get married, now what?

Abraham was worried about the same thing, and asked his oldest servant to go back to his relatives to look for a spouse for his son, because he didn’t want his son to marry a stranger. The scriptures tell us:
Now Abraham was old, well advanced in age; and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things. So Abraham said to the oldest servant of his house, who ruled over all that he had, “Please, put your hand under my thigh, and I will make you swear by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell; but you shall go to my country and to my family, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”(Genesis 24:1-4)
Some parts of this text should be pointed out to enhance our understanding.
1. How do we know it’s time? The Word says that Abraham had been blessed in all things, that is, he had the financial resources to support his son’s Isaac future family. The Bible says: Prepare your outside work. Make it fit for yourself in the field; and afterward build your house. This is a rule established by the Word of God. So, first you must achieve your financial independence, and then the Lord will send you your partner.
2. The person must be part of the same family, that is, not related by blood, but of the same faith, because we must not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? (II Corinthians 6:14). That’s exactly what Abraham told his servant to do. The person that you are going to marry you has to partake of the same spirit of faith and be in communion with the real God.
