12/02/2013 - Seven things that God hates

Christian Life

The things which men hate are far from being the things which God hates. That’s because men lack understanding of God’s will. In this text we will find seven things God hates, and thus that we should hate as well.

Proverbs 6: 16-19 – “These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.”

I – Proud look: (pride) an exaggerated perception one gives of him or herself;

Luke 18:10 – On a certain occasion, two men went up to the temple, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee displayed superiority saying out loud that he wasn’t like some extortionists, unjust, adulterers or even like this tax collector. I fast and give all my tithes…..

Therefore, he was not justified….God hates the proud look!

II – Lying tongue: (falseness) affirmation contrary to the truth, falsehood;

John 14:6 – “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” The one who does not speak the truth has the devil as his/her father. I wish everyone knew this! Many still have the bad habit of lying about day to day matters. The Lord does not accept lies!

III – One who spills the innocent blood (unjustly) of those who did not commit fault, do not cause harm;

Jeremiah 4:14 – “O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, That you may be saved. How long shall your evil thoughts lodge within you?” Unfortunately still today some people maintain a bad testimony in the sense that they see malice in everything, they even anticipate decisions based on prejudice.

IV – The plotting heart: conspiring, harming, plotting;

Mark 14:1 – “And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take Him by trickery and put Him to death.”

V – Wickedness: cruelty, perversity ;

Genesis 6:5 – “Then the LORD[b] saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” Those who wish evil on others at any cost.

VI – False witness: pretending, hypocrisy;

Proverbs 30:8 – “Remove falsehood and lies far from me; Give me neither poverty nor riches— Feed me with the food allotted to me;”

VII – Discord among brethren: discussion, controversy, debate, quarrel;

Proverbs 20:3 – “It is honorable for a man to stop striving, Since any fool can start a quarrel.”…

If you have a desire to serve God, in spirit and in truth, meditate on these things and try not to do them, so that you can go well wherever you may go!
