05/22/2014 - Where is God my Maker?

But no one says, ‘Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night, who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of heaven?’ (Job 35:10-11)

We miss out a lot for not meditating on the Word of God. If we are His creation, He naturally has a commitment to us. In our world, any couple who joins and produces a child has to be committed to the education and support of that child, they have the obligation to feed, bring up, educate and protect the child that they made. If they do not so, they will be prosecuted as criminals and may go to jail. The same is true in relation to our Creator. He has a commitment to us. But no one says: Where is God my maker?

Before making man, the Lord created all things for him to have a decent home. He provided everything he needed. After his home was ready and equipped, He formed man from the dust of the earth and from his rib He made the woman. Then He gave human race the authority for it to be just like Him in this world: Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth” (Genesis 1:28).

However, with Adam’s fall, man transferred his powers to the enemy and as a result he fell into the hands of the wicked and evil one, the cause of all existing woes.

The great tragedy of today is no longer the fall that took place in the Garden of Eden, but the lack of knowledge of the meaning of the work the Lord Jesus did on the Calvary. After the death of Christ, the devil was cast out of the position he had deceptively taken from Adam; then, mankind regained the right to be masters of the situation again and were able to resume their fellowship with the Lord God. But no one says: Where is God my maker?

Because of this Word, we are challenged to ask where is the One who had the idea of creating someone in His image and likeness. Judging by what religions teach, we conclude that He forsook us when Adam fell and did not do anything to redeem us, or that whatever He did was not enough. Based on religious teachings, He failed in His work of redemption.

No! He triumphed! God bought us and made us more than conquerors. Today, we have a legal right to assume the position of triumph. We are His image and likeness here and now. We have all the necessary prerogatives to overcome any situation.

The authority over diseases – …And makes us wiser than the birds of heaven. (Job 35:11). In the account of the creation of the animals, God declared them sentient beings. We know that vertebrate animals are not the only living beings, for there are others such as viruses and bacteria, which when in contact with our bodies cause us harm. In creating man, God gave him the power to also dominate these microscopic beings: Then God blessed them, and God said to them, (…); have dominion (…) over every living thing that moves on the earth (Genesis 1:28). With the fall, man lost this power; However, with the coming of the Lord Jesus, the power was restored to him: And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease (Matthew 10:1). At first, Jesus gave the power to the 12 disciples; In Luke 10:9, it was extended to the 70; later, in Mark 16:18, to all those who believe.

Authority over demons – …and makes us wiser than the birds of heaven? (Job 35:11). In the Parable of the Sower (Mark 4:4), the Lord Jesus speaks of the birds of the heaven which devoured part of the seed that fell in the wayside. Because the disciples did not grasp it, he said: “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; (…) And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts. In the Eden the Lord had given man the power to exert dominion over the birds of heaven: Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “(…) have dominion over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” By having obeyed the devil, he lost this authority; however, the Lord Jesus returned it to us: Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:19).

The authority over the angels – Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “(…) have dominion over the fish of the sea…” (Genesis 1:28). The sea is made up of water. Water is a symbol of God’s Word. In the world created by the Lord there are angels who do God’s work. Originally, man received from God the power to rule over them, not the master-slave type of dominion. Man would issue a command and the angels would do the work. This ability was also lost with the fall, however it was returned to us upon our birth: Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation? (Hebrews 1:14). All angels are spirits. None of them have flesh and bone. They were made to minister, not to be ministered to. We should not pray to them, or light candles to them or thank them. Our prayers should be solely directed to the Father (Matthew 6:9). Any prayer offered to any other being is disrespectful to the Lord God and therefore is intended to demons.

The angels were not made to be served, whether by means of prayers, thanksgiving, candles, etc. They were sent to serve, not to be served. And who shall inherit salvation? Those who have accepted the Lord Jesus as Savior and Lord of their life: But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name (John 1:12). And how do we get the angels to meet our needs? The answer is in Psalm 103:20: Bless the LORD, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word. When we give voice to God’s Word, they perform the work. Giving voice to the Word of God and believing it is a blessing is to ordain the blessing that belongs to us.

Who gives songs in the night – There are times in our lives when it seems we have entered into a night in which there is no light. In times like these, it also seems God has forgotten us and we are helpless. If you find yourself in such a circumstance, do not “throw in the towel”. He will give us songs in the night. You can sing them until you enter into His presence and then He will come to your rescue. Paul and Silas experienced the fulfillment of that promise in Philippi. Because they cast out demons they were whipped, thrown into jail and their feet were fastened in the stocks. Instead of whining and complaining against the Lord, they praised God. Upon reaching His presence the Lord’s answer came to them: But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed (Acts 16:25-26). That same night the apostles baptized the jailer and his entire family.

But no one says: Where is God my maker? – What will you do from now on? Will you keep on living as if all this were not true, or will you make the wisest decision of your life, surrendering completely to the Lord Jesus? Open your heart and He will make you a blessing. He had a purpose when He made you, so do not frustrate Him.
