07/31/2014 - The Year of Jubilee

After the Lord God created man from the dust of the earth, He gave him dominion over all the works of His hand, which means that the Lord gave His creation to man’s care. However, by sinning, man placed himself in the hands of the evil one and became a slave of that vile and wicked being.

In the story of Abraham and his descendants, the Lord God foretold what would happen to mankind after the work which, later on, His Son – the Lord Jesus Christ – would do on Calvary. As a shadow of man’s journey toward full redemption, the descendants of Abraham – the children of Israel -, who had become slaves in Egypt, were brought to freedom in Canaan. The Lord God sent Moses – a typification of the Lord Jesus – to take His people out of slavery and lead them to the land of the promise.

The law of Jubilee – The Lord God wanted His people to have a new economic and social start after every fifty-year period. When the trumpet sounded in the Day of Atonement debtors and slaves had the opportunity to declare themselves free of all debt. “And you shall count seven sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years; and the time of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine years. Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all your land. And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family.” (Leviticus 25:8-10).

God’s decree was for the trumpet to sound every fifty years and then all people would be forgiven. The land couldn’t be sold permanently. At that time, when a man owed money to another but was not able to pay it back he would lose his possessions. If His possessions were not enough to pay the debt, a member of his family would be given or sold as a slave. It happened to a lot of people but when the Jubilee’s trumpet sounded everything went back to what it was before.

Let’s imagine, dear reader, it was the law in our country. Everyone would have the opportunity to start a new life, fixing any errors. If this was done today, all social problems of our nation would end, right?

Our Jubilee – One day, when he arrived in Nazareth, a town in Galilee where He had been raised, the Lord Jesus went to the synagogue. There He was handed the Book of the Law for Him to read. Upon opening it, He found the place where it was written: “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.” (Luke 4:18:19). After reading, he sat

down and said to those present: “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” (Luke 4.21).

Since that day the Jubilee Year has been in full force. God’s Spirit used the evangelist Luke to record one of the biggest declarations someone could ever hear from God. Those who understand it, no matter who they are or what suffering they are going through, will certainly be completely delivered. Let us briefly examine this six-fold mission of the Lord Jesus:

1st – He has sent me to preach the gospel to the poor

Evangelizing is a word of Greek origin that means to give good news. The Lord was anointed, empowered, enabled by the Holy Spirit to tell the poor that their problems had been solved; to inform those who were deeply in debt that their debts were canceled; to tell everyone that had been deprived of their property that their pledge had come to and end and that captivity belonged to the past.

2nd – To heal the brokenhearted

Those who are deeply in debt, desperate, sick and have no prospect of improvement, certainly have a broken and bruised heart. They need to know the doctrine of the Jubilee. They do not need to suffer anymore.

3rd – To proclaim liberty to the captives

It’s the most urgent message that the ones who are dominated by vices, trapped in sin and enslaved by spirits – orishas, deities and other entities – need to hear.

4th – Recover the sight to the blind

It is not small the number of Christians who do not see themselves in the Scriptures. While a Christian does not see him or herself in the Word, they will not be fully accomplished and happy. The Jubilee of God brings us this blessing.

5th – To set at liberty those who are oppressed

No matter what the oppression that is tying you might be; the six-fold ministry of the Son of God has the anointing to break every yoke and set the oppressed free.

6th – To preach the acceptable year of the Lord:

It is the Year of Jubilee; this is the message that all inhabitants of the planet need to hear. Debts (physical, material, moral and spiritual) have been canceled.

Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:4-5)

So, what will you do? The doors are open. All you have to do is make a decision and take a stand by including yourself in the Year of God’s Jubilee so that you start

enjoying these blessings. At this very moment, the Lord God is ready to work the miracle you need. You just have to believe and confess Him as your Substitute and Savior. But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”. (Romans 10:8-10)

From now on you can get rid of all your debts. The Lord will either cause them to be canceled or renegotiated, or will give you the opportunity to pay them off. The light that came into your heart through this message is enough to free you completely.

In James 2:12 it is written: So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. We notice, based on this word, there are two laws that may govern you: freedom and slavery. Walk and proceed according to the law of liberty – the Jubilee law. Do not live under the law of slavery ever again.

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage (Galatians 5:1).
